About this event

  • Event lasts 3 days 23 hours

In 2025, opencampus.sh—through its Waterkant Festival, Coding.Waterkant initiatives, and various partner organizations—will bring together machine learning and AI enthusiasts in a unique festival atmosphere. Participants can advance their own projects or gain expertise by collaborating with others.

Opportunities

During the event, you'll be able to:

  • Dedicate four consecutive days to machine learning projects
  • Network with peers in the field
  • Participate in specialized workshops
  • Receive guidance and feedback from invited experts
  • Present your work to a broader audience

Practical Information

  • Educational Leave: Eligible participants can request "Bildungsurlaub" (educational leave) from work.
  • Accommodation:** Sleeping accommodations are available on-site for participants from outside Kiel.
  • Full Program: Visit our website for complete program details.

How can I participate?

Join a project: Gain expertise by working on a real-life machine learning project. On Tuesday morning, you'll have the opportunity to select from available projects seeking participants.

Bring your own project: Work on your own machine learning project during the event. All projects will be briefly presented at the beginning, allowing you to either work independently or optionally invite others to join your team or exchange ideas related to your topic.

Time commitment

We expect participants to:

  • Attend the full four-day program (Tuesday to Friday) at the MFG5 venue
  • Join key social activities (including meals and networking opportunities)
  • Attend the opening reception on Monday evening (6pm)
  • Participate in the project presentations on Friday

Prerequisites

  • Technical requirements: Basic or advanced machine learning knowledge and coding skills are recommended. Experienced programmers without ML background are also welcome to join as an entry point to the ML community.
  • Project involvement: Either bring your own machine learning project or join an existing one.
  • Legal requirement: All participants must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). This creates an open co-working environment and is mandatory for participation in certain projects.
