Marcus "Makossa" Wagner-Lapierre has been a key figure in Vienna's DJ culture since the mid-1980s. Starting in legendary clubs like U4 and Camera Club, he later became head of music at Austria’s public radio station FM4. Since 1992, his "Swound Sound" show with MC Sugar B has been one of the longest-running DJ mix shows on the air.
From 2005, he collaborated with Sascha Weisz as Makossa & Megablast, releasing two LPs, multiple singles, and remixes. Their track "Soy Como Soy" (2010) became a global club hit, leading to performances at festivals and clubs worldwide. Their music has been remixed by artists such as Henrik Schwarz, DJ Koze, Luciano, and Stereo MC’s. In 2023, Makossa marked his 40th year as a DJ.
