About this event
Important facts, please, read this through:
• In this year 2025 our event will happen only once a month (third Saturday of the month from May to September), thus I recommend you to check prospected dates here before attending.
• How to find the event: Do not expect a (large) group of people dancing to extremely loud music! Most likely there will be me (Regina LoMío, same person as in the picture of the event) and hopefully a few clients. Two (2) clients (me plus 2) is the absolute minimum to start the dance ritual, and therefore I encourage you to come accompanied with friend(s) whenever possible to make sure the event takes place at the time of your arrival. Don’t be shy or afraid and just come up to me, even if there is one client only we would have an interesting conversation about relevant topics.
• This is a donation-based event, meaning you can (not should) make your (highly appreciated) donations through the Eventbrite platform (transfers) or in person (cash) when you attend the event. You can also make donations through PayPal to lomiocontact@gmail.com and stating the specific event.
• This event is organized by LoMío, Regina LoMío’s company in Berlin. Eventbrite is an event platform where the event was originally posted.
• Disclaimer about refund policy: You can request a full refund of your Eventbrite donations only when the event is cancelled for reasons under my jurisdiction and control. For instance, when I cannot attend due to sickness or personal problems. I would announce that as soon as possible. No refund due to bad weather, arriving late, not finding the place within the park, or other. Only the donation made to LoMío is refundable, Eventbrite fees are not refundable.
• This is not an event to sit down in the park and watch others do their mind-body work. This is not a show or concert! Please, read event descriptions and make sense of them, thanks!

In a ritualized setup, like in the traditional rites associated to ancient cults and cultures, dancing can be a healing tool when coupled with conscious cultural learning and mindful and/or flow-enhancing techniques. Cuban culture is very rich in spiritual and music/dance sources and living traditions. In Cuba, dancing is always a spiritual and somatic healing experience of some sort that can also be shared with others. In the Afro-descended Cuban culture people often say that “we go to dance to cleanse ourselves”. And they mean it both literally and metaphorically depending on their own personal relationship to the relevant spirituality, and possibly also on their personal level of mind-body awareness. Here we propose a dance ritual in which the concepts of embodiment and flow would be applied to traditional/ancestral/popular dances (and dance subcultures) to awake and/or improve the individual mind-body connection as well as aiming at reaching relevant states of consciousness, eg. the so-called states of "total flow" and "dance trance". Moreover, the dance rites would also include storytelling, items, and subjects with spiritual connotations. Our rites aim at improving the individual relationship with dance, movement, body awareness, spirituality (religion-independent) and are therefore equally suitable for those who have never felt comfortable when dancing and those who may well be experienced dancers but lack confidence or the ability to fully lose themselves in it to some degree. On top of that the rites are an opportunity to connect to others through dance in a more embodied and spiritual way than just clubs, parties, festivities, and many other types of dance gatherings. Blended in the sessions without a particular sequence, we will embodiment-aware dance the following dance/music styles: Yoruba-Santeria, Ewe Fon-Arara, Bantu-Congo, Brikamo-Carabalí, Rumba, Conga/Comparsas, Haiti-originated traditional dances of Cuba, and Timba (including despelote and son/salsa).
Level and audience: Level-independent, it is all about the ritual and the potential healing that we all need. This is a racism/sexism/queerphobia-conscious event and as such ethnic and gender/sexuality minority people are explicitly invited and welcome. This is NOT an event to get to know me personally, flirt with me, or push any of your agendas. Please, be mindful!
Frequency: Once a month. Since this is not a course (or workshop) but instead individual dance rites happening once a month and intended to run the whole warm season, you can always catch up and come when you want/can.
Dates: One Saturday per month at 4:00-6:00 pm (third Saturday of the month from May to September) . Whenever it would be necessary to cancel event dates due to bad weather or other issues I would inform as soon as possible in all the event’s sites.

Yes, welcome. However, do not expect a full explanation of what happened before your arrival.
Yes, there are public toilets at the Kreuzbergstr. side of the park and a few cafés in the area.
Yes, indeed. Very young children though would have to dance with their parents in attendance.
Not at all, and you don't have to compete with anyone but instead dance, move, and feel at your own pace.
