“Nothing took the dignity out of one's exit like wearing clothing several sizes too large.”
— Jennifer L. Armentrout

What does it mean to leave, let go, escape, walk out—or be thrown out?

Whether it’s quitting your job, slipping out the back door of a bad date, leaving a country, abandoning an old self, or making a run for it with your dignity barely intact—this is your moment to share a story.

Join us for THE bEAR, Berlin’s open stage for true, personal stories told live. Expect a night of stories that are funny, raw, moving, and wildly unexpected—all inspired by the theme EXIT.

5 minutes. No notes. Just you and the mic.
Bring a story, or just bring your ears. Come for the stories—stay for the goosebumps (or the laughter).

The Bear.

A dance between documentary and theater

The Bear creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere where strangers, from 20-something to 80+, from all walks of life, expats from around the world, come together as strangers, and after an evening of heartwarming, amusing, poignant tales, leave feeling somewhat connected by our shared human experience. The evening flows back and forth between German and English.
